Cleaning Your Grout is Good for Your Health

Posted by dzadmin 05 May 2019 No Comments »

Cleaning your grout can keep you healthier – really? How so? Well, most grout is porous, which means it absorbs everything it encounters if not protected by a grout sealer. Grout can hold onto germs, bacteria, viruses, chemicals, mold, mildew, fungus, and more – all of these things can make you sick.

You’re exposed to these bad germs/bacteria every time you walk on grout, take a shower near grout, or eat near grout. Your young children, who often play on the floor, are exposed to the nasty germs. You don’t want to become sick from these hidden bad things in your home.

Mold and bacteria can lead to a lot of health problems for you and your family. With mold and mildew, you could get itchy skin, irritated eyes, and respiratory problems.

If the tile in your bathroom or kitchen is dirty looking or smells, there’s a good chance you have dirt, mold, or mildew build-up. Because of this, you’re exposing yourself to a toxic environment. With the right grout cleaner, you can clean up, kill, and wipe away all the germs, dirt, and mold for good – you’ll get your grout clean looking and free of filth!

For a deep clean, especially if there is dirt/mold build-up, you’ll need something heavy duty to clean your grout.  Grout Shield Grout & Tile Deep Cleaner lifts dirt out from the pores of the grout. To use: Step 1. Mix 1 oz of the deep cleaner with 8 oz of warm water. Step 2. Brush into the grout. Step 3. Let the mixture sit on your grout for a few minutes. Step 4. Wipe clean with a sponge.

Once your grout is clean, you can maintain it easier throughout the year with a maintenance grout cleaner. Grout Shield Maintenance Cleaner is a neutral pH-cleaner that helps the grout lines become renewed and clean. It is a non-combustible, fast-acting concentrate. To use: Step 1. Dilute in water. Dilution rate is 2 oz. to 1 gallon of water. Step 2. Apply to the surface with a damp mop or sponge. After application, the cleaner will start to dissolve grease, dirt, and oil. Step 3. Towel dry the area.

Both cleaners come in different sizes (depending on the size of your room). Both cleaners are ph-balanced and do not harm the grout.

Once you clean the grout, you’ll need a sealer to protect it from absorbing all that dirt and mold again. Pick up a bottle of Grout Shield’s clear grout sealer to protect your grout and tile.

By cleaning and sealing your grout, you’ll be keeping you and your family healthy.
