How to Clean Backsplash Grout

Posted by dzadmin 21 Aug 2019 No Comments »

Your backsplash is in the line of fire. Your kitchen backsplash is in one of the most used rooms in the house. It is exposed to water, grease, sauce, steam, spills, splatters, and more! Backsplash tiles can easily be wiped off, but grout usually absorbs all splatters that touch it. Grout, being porous, stains easily. Every time you cook, you run the risk of staining your grout. Stained grout isn’t always easy to clean.

Dark-colored food stains or mold (from water and steam) are some of the most common and hardest to clean. Dark colors show up grout lines that are light colored. Since it is porous, grout will absorb anything that lands on it. With the right grout cleaning and sealing products, you can clean up your backsplash and it will look like the splatters, spots, and stains never happened. Remember, you want to clean your backsplash immediately, so the stain is easier to clean up.

Our team at Grout Shield can help you get rid of backsplash stains for good. With our products, your backsplash will forever be protected. Backsplash stains will make your kitchen look dirty! Like you never clean!

Besides getting rid of the stains, Grout Shield products also rid the grout of bacteria and other harmful germs that get absorbed into the grout lines over time.

Most backsplash-cleaning articles may tell you to clean up the splatters and stains with bleach, ammonia or white vinegar. Sure, these chemicals and products may get rid of the stain, but they also aren’t really cleaning the grout. Many of these chemicals can actually cause the grout to crack or break. Grout Shield products are pH-balanced and are safe on grout.

To remove stains, you want to first blot the area dry with a clean cloth. Wipe the area clean of any splatters. You may notice your grout is stained with color or mold. To remove the stains, you will want to use Grout Shield’s Grout & Tile Deep Cleaner, which cleans and lifts deep and hard-to-clean stains out of the grout’s pores.

To use this cleaner, mix 1 ounce of the cleaner with 8 ounces of warm water. Then, brush the cleaner into the grout with a brush applicator. Let the mixture sit into the grout lines for a few minutes. Then, wipe away the cleaner with a sponge and towel dry the floor. The coffee discoloration will be gone.

Now, if the stains still won’t fully go away, you can make the grout color look like new again with Grout Shield’s color sealer. You just squeeze the sealer into the grout lines. Then, spread it into the grout lines with a brush applicator or your finger and wipe away the excess with a towel or chamois. You can choose any color in the world to recolor your grout. Check out our grout colors.

If you don’t need to recolor your grout, you should seal it with clear grout sealer, after cleaning it, to protect it from future spills and accidents. Next time your pasta sauce splatters onto the backsplash, the sealer will prevent the sauce from seeping into the grout lines, and you can wipe the sauce right up with no stains left behind.
